John Francis Stanczuk, Jr., age 87 years, of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died suddenly but peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 23, 2025, with his cherished wife, RoseMarie, at his side.
Born on August 3, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late John Francis Stanczuk and Jennie Martysheck Stanczuk. John was raised in Greenpoint, amidst the warmth of a loving family, including his cherished sister, the late Anne Stanczuk DeVito.
John’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family and community. He spent 64 beautiful years with his soulmate, RoseMarie DeVito Stanczuk, whom he met while working together at Moore McCormick Shipping Lines. Their love story flourished, welcoming the joys of parenthood with the birth of their three sons: Gregory, Andrew, and Christopher. His sons would help grow the family, and as a grandfather, John reveled in the joy that his grandchildren, Gregory, Jr., Brittany, and Courtney, brought him.
A proud Veteran of the United States Army, John served as a Military Police Officer from 1961 to 1963. Delighted to become parents, John and RoseMarie’s first child was born at the American Army Base in Heidelberg, Germany, where the couple was stationed.

John’s life was rich with passion for many activities and hobbies. He cultivated a remarkable one-acre vegetable garden, ensuring family and friends had homegrown tomatoes for canning season, a cherished tradition that will live on in their hearts. His love for the earth extended to cacti and succulents, nurtured in his greenhouse and basement, where his hands worked with gentle patience.
John was also an avid reader, a connoisseur of food (including unique delicacies such as pigs’ feet and octopus), and was a vibrant participant in family outings. Vacations to the beach, picnics and softball games in the backyard, and morning walks with his dogs, John simply enjoyed spending time with family and friends, living each day to its fullest.
A longtime communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, John never forgot his Ukrainian heritage and Russian Orthodox Church roots, his faith anchoring him and allowing him to face anything that came his way.
