Edward Alan Shoemaker, age 47 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Lake Park, FL, May 8, 1973, son of Gloria Ann Czyz Temples and Raymond Lawrence Shoemaker, Ed was a lifelong area resident, growing up in the Croton and Baptistown areas.
Attending Del Val High School, he would go on to work for DS & D, Bridgewater, NJ and Hunterdon Lock & Safe, Flemington, NJ.
For the past ten years, Ed was a Service Advisor at Flemington Infiniti, and was a true member of the Flemington Car & Truck Family of Dealerships family. He was well regarded by both his colleagues and his customers; his work ethic was as solid as any. Ed was the ‘go to’ guy for everyone as his attention to detail, his powerful laugh, and his true desire to help, made any situation better.
His life was all about hard work and family. Being a son, husband, and father meant everything to Ed. He was proud to be a ‘Mama’s Boy’ and made sure his son’s knew that treating all people with respect and compassion was the only way to go through life.
His sons, Payton and Nicholas, fondly recall their dad being both physical, as well as emotionally, strong. It is not overstating when it is said that Ed lived for his boys. Their hobbies and interests were his hobbies and interests. Their struggles, his struggles. Their triumphs, his triumphs.
Together for twenty-three years and married for fourteen, the couple wed on May 13, 2006 at the Sergeantsville Fire Co., Lisa was the, ‘other woman’ in Ed’s life besides his mother. The two found a true love that was based on respect, understanding, and a whole lot of laughter!
Ed enjoyed each day to the fullest; whether down the shore at LBI enjoying the beach, or rooting for his Kansas City Chiefs, he was all about family, hard work, and having fun. His family will never play another game of Skip-Bo without smiling.
Anyone who knew Ed, knew that he had a giving heart; there was simply nothing he would not do for another person. In a final act of giving, Ed provided the gift of life through valve and tissue donation via the New Jersey Sharing Network. Many lives will be saved, and many others made better through Ed’s donation.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Anna and Stanley Czyz; his paternal grandparents, Frances and Raymond Shoemaker; and two uncles, Thomas and Steven Czyz.
Surviving are his mother, Gloria Ann Temples; his father and step-mother, Raymond and Cheryl Shoemaker; his wife, Lisa Ann Farley Shoemaker; his sons, Edward Payton Shoemaker and his longtime girlfriend, Jessica Kasperowicz, and Nicholas Charles Shoemaker; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Kelly Shoemaker and David and Dawn Newcomb; his step-grandmother, Florence Temples; his mother-in-law, Pauline Farley; his step-father, Albert Temples; the mother of his oldest son, Cheryl Bramble Godown; his devoted cat, Winnie; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family; and many friends made wherever he traveled.
