Edwin Frank Mausser, age 62 years, of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, entered into eternal life after a fierce battle with ALS in the early hours of Monday, March 5, 2018, at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Karl and Veronica Mausser, in Delaware Township, NJ.
Born In Brooklyn, NY, May 3, 1955, son of the late Alois and Emilie Leustik Mausser, he had lived in New York his entire life.
A 1978 graduate of Florida International University with a BA in Physical Education, Edwin was a Carpenter for the Union Council of Carpenter’s, New York City, NY.
A bachelor throughout his life, Edwin nevertheless was a true family man and was a lynch pin in helping keep the family united. His nieces and nephew were his world and he thought of them as his own children.
Non-judgmental, he was always offering sound advice and to help out wherever and however he was able; friends, family and anyone else who needed assistance. That is just the type of person Edwin was, there with a smile, his dry wit, thoughtful insights and genuine helping hand to all.
An avid soccer enthusiast, Edwin loved to both play and watch professional soccer. He enjoyed being outdoors and traveling, with Alaska being on the top of his favorite places that he had visited. Outdoor festivals, craft beer tasting and just simply living life to its fullest were how Edwin spent each day.
Upon suddenly being diagnosed last year with ALS, Edwin faced the disease the same way he faced life; with a courage and optimism that was truly inspirational. He maintained his dignity and faith throughout, and was well and lovingly cared for by his family during this time as they ensured he was able to receive the care needed as he faced his own mortality. He died at the end of the Holy Rosary being recited by his bedside, and he surely heard these words as he closed his eyes on Earth and awoke in God’s heavenly kingdom: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Timothy 4: 7-8
In addition to his parents, Emilie in 1987 and Alois in 2004, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, JoMarie Mausser in 2017.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Karl and Veronica Mausser of Delaware Township, NJ; a brother, Arnold Mausser of Lake Worth, FL; two nieces, Emilie and Christine Mausser; a nephew, Andrew Mausser; a host of extended family; and many cherished friends.
