Florence (Wieczerak) Athey, age 85, of Red Bank, NJ, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at home. She was born on October 20, 1920, in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Frank and Sadie Wieczerak. She grew up in Flemington and lived in Fanwood, NJ, Pasco County, FL and Shrewsbury Township, NJ before moving to Red Bank several years ago. A graduate of Flemington High School, until her retirement Florence was employed by the State of Florida as a secretary. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas L. Athey in 1981, and her son Thomas M. Athey in 2003. She is survived by her daughter Helen Fragale and her husband Joseph of Red Bank, NJ; her daughter-in-law, Sherri Athey of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Sophie Biel of High Point, NC and Adell Stewart of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Karen and Nicholas Fragale and Kyle Athey; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, #38 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen’s Cemetery in Flemington, NJ. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday June 21, 2006 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time.
