Gloria Curran

Gloria L. Curran, age 74, of Edison, NJ, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. She was born on July 23, 1933, in Passaic, NJ, the daughter of the late Christopher and Theresa Randazzo and lived in Branchburg, NJ before moving to Edison 1985. A graduate of The College of New Rochelle she received her Masters degree from Seton Hall University. She was an English teacher for many years before her retirement in 2002 from Perth Amboy High School. Mrs. Curran was a reading specialist and a published poet. Her husband Thomas H. Curran predeceased her in 1974. She is survived by five children; Gina, Gloria, Thomas, Christopher, and Stephen Curran; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 9:00 am from the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, #38 Highway 31, Flemington, to celebrate the funeral liturgy at 10:00 am in St. Magdalen’s Church, Flemington. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. I guess it is somewhat cathartic for me to post every now and then. Shannon was saying how she missed Grandma Curran and wished to know her as an adult. I miss you too Mom. I am getting older now...but I still remember.

I was so sad to here of your mom's passing. She was an exceptional individual. Gloria was one of the most professional teachers I have had the opportunity with which to work. I will cherish my memories of us going to the theatre, dining out, as well as our Red Hat Society outings. Gloria worked very hard, but she also enjoyed playing very hard as well. I'll miss here dearly.

Gloria was a sweet dedicated teacher. When I first started teaching in Perth Amboy I shared a room with Gloria. Every day she would come to work with such a happy disposition. I thought of her as a great friend. She will be sadly missed. The children of Perth Amboy have lost a great and caring teacher.

I taught with Gloria for many years in Perth Amboy. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed talking about all of you. She was a wonderful teacher--dedicated to her students. I am sure you have many happy memories. Sondra Polkowitz Meisner

My deepest sympathy to you on the passing of your Mother. I was a classmate of hers at the College of New Rochelle where she was greatly beloved by her fellow classmates.We called her "Randy"taken from her last name. Officially,she was Gloria. She and your late father introduced Tom's best friend,Chuck, to me. He was best man at your Mom and Dad's wedding and I was in attendance.He also was godfather to Gloria,I believe. He is deceased also.You are all in my prayers and will always remain there. Your Mom and Dad were very special people and I'm sure you are also. God bless you all.
