Jeffrey Wells Rountree, age 56 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.
Born in Whittier, CA on June 12, 1962, son of Betty J. Hauser Krasnoff of Princeton, NJ and the late Robert Wells Rountree, he was raised in Lake Hopatcong and Hopewell, NJ. He then moved to Seattle, WA for several years before moving back to the Flemington, NJ area.
A 1980 graduate of Hopewell Valley High School, Jeff was a driver for National Auto Parts, Flemington, NJ. A diligent and hard worker, he also assisted with maintenance at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ and Sandy Ridge Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ.
Jeff loved anything outdoors; nature was his true home. From hiking the hills of Northern Jersey with his mother, to bass fishing somewhere with his brother, Scott, he was a gentle soul who never wanted to hurt or bother anyone.
Jeff made many lifelong friends. Though quiet, he touched many lives and as most have said, he simply was, “a nice guy.”
In addition to hiking, fishing, working, and spending time with family and friends, Jeff enjoyed the dirt track races at New Egypt and watching anything on the Discovery or National Geographic channel.
Surviving are his loving mother, Betty J. Krasnoff; his devoted brother and sister-in-law, Scott William and Kimberly Rountree; his adored nieces, Sara and Jessica Rountree; his uncles and aunts, Robert and Judy Hauser and Jim and Pat Rountree; and many dear friends.
Life celebration services and cremation at the Chapel of Ewing Crematory are private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
