Jeffrey Brown left a message on November 25, 2022:
I was watching videos on one of my YouTube channels and watched what happened the night of his passing. As someone who has similar difficulties as Paul I was absolutely heartbroken. Reading his obituary and seeing what an upstanding human Paul was I absolutely had to reach out and express my sorrow. I hope you all have been able to get justice for Paul and hope His story can create greater awareness in the officials that are supposed to protect us. It is my firm belief that after this world the true identity and potential of who we are is released and I firmly believe that Paul is waiting for those he loved with open arms and a brilliant eternity of his creation. Bless all of you mourning his loss and im so sorry this world failed him.

I learned of your sons story from a YouTube channel called Audit the Audit. The complete situation was mind-blowing really difficult to accept even from an outsider. I truly hope you reach justice for your son and God bless.
CJW left a message on November 30, 2020:
I did not know you but I have walked in your footsteps and I am lucky to be alive. We will not stop fighting for justice. I will carry your story with me and try everyday to create a better world where you would not have died. My life is dedicated to this cause and will always be until I die or the system is reformed. Bless you my Brother. I hope that you saw the beautiful side of madness that has breathed word to prophet and poet. I hope you felt the interconnectedness and beautiful nirvana and knowing before society impressed upon you that your dreams had flown too far. Those who haven't been there can't understand how we end up in such a dark place. Love CJ

After viewing a television special regarding Paul and the circumstances of his passing, I read his obituary. His story struck a chord with me because I have Bipolar I and have been in a similar situation as Paul was before his death. I’m thankful to have read this beautiful obituary commemorating the valuable life of a person not defined by their struggles, but quite the opposite: it is clear Paul was very productive, thoughtful, and loved. His story has sparked an important conversation in my family about the role law enforcement plays in protecting persons in crisis. Thank you to his family for speaking out. Paul will continue to impact the world through you.

It still doesn’t seem real. Paul, you were a very close and dear friend of mine and I will hold every memory of you close to my heart. We met in 6th grade and I had the BIGGEST crush on you. I remember we got our very first cell phones almost at the exact time that year and we were each other’s very first contact!! I remember how excited we were! Eventually the crush faded but our friendship grew. We were so close in middle school. Even when you were in the “popular” crowd and I was not. Unfortunately, we lost touch in high school... Fast forward to the beginning of senior year in 2010. We had study hall together with Colleen, Emily, Jake and Trey and a few others. We all became buddies during that time and I am so thankful to have had that time with you. I remember thinking “why did we lose each other in the mix of HS?” and at the time I was worried you moved on to “cooler” friends BUT you didn’t and we started back up where we left off in middle school... as BEST FRIENDS! We hung out every weekend and did the CRAZIEST things! You gave me, Sarah, CaiLee, Nicholle and Colleen the thrill of a life time! You made my life so exciting and memorable. I never wanted that year to end because it was the best year of my life. We went to prom together and had a blast in Seaside... oh how I wish I could go back and relive that! Paul, you were my best friend. I was over your house ALL the time and your family became my family whether they liked it or not! I will never forget how generous you and your family were to me and the girls. You loved us so much and always made sure we had the time of our life! Paul, I don’t want to believe you are gone. It’s so hard to imagine you not being here. You were such a true and genuine friend. I love you and I will miss you so much. Thank you for being my friend, I feel very blessed to have been in your life.

To Paul's family, I'm so sorry for your loss. There are no words. Paul had been good friends with my daughter, Shannon, in high school and beyond. We had the pleasure of having Paul for a long weekend at Lake George about 9 years ago. It was Columbus Day weekend and our community's annual Halloween celebration - the last hurrah before everyone closes house for the winter. Paul was supposed to be a Vietnam era soldier. He dressed in full-on camo with his face painted and long strings of seaweed looking stuff draped all over his outfit from head to toe. He looked just like The Swamp Thing! He was so funny and naturally at ease with us and all of these strangers! He was an instant hit at the lake. We were all singing, laughing and dancing and it was a blast! Even though I haven't seen him in quite a while, I think about that weekend at the lake from time to time and look at the photos. It always brings a smile. Especially Paul as The (not supposed to be) Swamp Thing! I hope that a memory shared was of some small comfort at this time when it feels like there is none. Paul will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Warmest wishes, Karen Wagner
