Navy Veteran, IBM Executive, Beloved Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, Stanley Leonard Ozimek, Jr., age 88 years, of West End, NC, died on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.
Born on August 13, 1934, in Buffalo, NY, son of the late Stanley and Anna Ozimek, young Stanley grew up in Buffalo, NY, with his sister, Theresa, and two brothers, Joseph and Daniel. He had resided in Delaware Township, NJ, for fifty years prior to moving to North Carolina several years ago.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Stanley would join IBM after his honorable discharge in 1966, and retired as an accomplished executive after thirty-four years of service with the company. Additionally, Stanley was well known in the Hunterdon County area for doing personal income taxes each year and had more than five hundred individuals and families that turned to him annually for his expertise.
With many hobbies, Stanley will be remembered as a patriot and proud member of both the Flemington American Legion Post 159 and the Flemington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7856, always supporting veterans and veteran-related causes. He was also a life member of the Flemington Elks Lodge #1928, and enjoyed spending time with his friends there, laughing and reminiscing. He was a hard worker and enjoyed splitting wood and working in his large vegetable garden, where his family and friends would always await his yearly harvest.
Proud of his heritage, Stanley was an expert kielbasa maker and enjoyed Sunday afternoon’s dancing the Polka with his beloved wife, Mary McCaskill, with whom he joined hands in marriage on November 27, 1954. Together they raised their four beloved sons, Michael, Richard, Robert, and Mark, and were elated as they became grandparents; family was everything to both Mary and Stanley.
A longtime member of Our Lady of Victories Church, Baptistown, NJ, Stanley was proud of his faith and let it be a foundation for his life’s work. As he closed his eyes on Earth, he surely heard the words of Matthew 25:23, His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord, as he opened them to see his beloved Mary, and all those who have gone before. To honor Stanley, is to do good now, and to know you will see him once again.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary, Stanley is survived by his children, Michael, Richard, Robert, Mark, and their spouses, Josephine, Eleanor, Lynn, and Joshua; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
